Advice and Information

We provide Information and expert advice on a wide range of issues is available at Age Concern Hammersmith and Fulham. It’s always confidential, it’s free and we are independent of any statutory agency. Our Advice and Information Workers are all highly trained and experienced in dealing with older people’s issues.
Our wealth of experience in supporting older people - responding to their needs and the needs of their carers - means that our friendly Advice and Information Workers can offer vital assistance at every stage, from initial identification of needs through to applications for benefits and support in accessing other services.
The service we offer has been awarded the Quality Mark of the Community Legal Service. This means that we have been audited by independent inspectors and have reached their required standard. We have also been awarded Age Concern's internal "Quality Counts" accreditation.
We aim:
- To provide the knowledge and support people need to make the decisions that are right for them and will assist them to lead their lives in the way they choose.
- To provide information on a wide range of services and resources, both local and national.
- To advise on entitlement to welfare benefits and help individuals to make claims where applicable.
- To have a sympathetic response to older peoples concerns
We can help you with:
- Money matters
- Housing rights
- Health and social care
- Leisure and social activities
- Your rights to local services
- And most other things that affect your quality of life
What we can offer you:
- We will give you information that is accurate and up-to-date
- We can explain the choices you have
- We will help you decide what to do, but it is always your choice
- We may be able to take action for you on your behalf if you would like us to
- We can provide small grants for essential needs if there is no other source of help.
If we can't help, we will advise on other sources of help if the query is more specialist than our level of expertise
How we work:
- We will not charge you for our service
- We will not tell anyone about your business without your consent
- You can talk to us in private and confidentially
- We will not make judgements about your life and what you want to do
- We will tackle any discrimination or prejudice that you face
- We will not be influenced by any other interests but yours
